Trailer Licence Course near me… Well done Steve on passing your trailer test at West Thurrock
Another pass for Get Towing trailer licence training, Steve who met me at Get Towing trailer training head quarters in Leigh-on-Sea in Essex, where we carry out these types of trailer licence training courses and trailer tests around the Essex area, especially Chelmsford and West Thurrock.
He completed a 2 day intensive trailer training driving course and B+E trailer test to gain his trailer licence on the first attempt with only two minor faults.
He enquired for a ‘trailer test licence’ and ‘B+E Trailer Licence Test’ near me.
As always the Examiner asks the candidate approximately 5/6 questions about the trailer and the towing vehicle, Steve answered all his questions correctly, looking under the bonnet and showed good trailer knowledge.
The Examiner for the B+E trailer driving test was very impressed with him during a safe trailer towing drive with an amazing 3 minor fault an excellent good result as he didn’t know the West Thurrock, South Ockendon and Aveley areas of Essex that well.
The reversing manoeuvre to pass the trailer licence test seemed quite easy for Steve on the trailer driving test and was completed with no minor faults after practicing it many times at our reversing site, before the trailer test, really helped
After that Steve had to carry out the un-couple and re-couple exercise, which scored no minors faults as we practiced this many times as well.
His trailer licence should be back to his home address within 2 weeks as the examiner sent it off for him as his address on the drivers licence was the same as where he currently living.
The roundabouts in that part of West Thurrock in Essex can be tricky, but Steve coped well on his trailer training course with the difficult junctions around the parts of Basildon in Essex that we drove around to help him familiarise himself in readiness for the trailer test.
Basildon and West Thurrock can be particularly challenging if you are not used to the layout of it’s, sometimes awkward, multiple lane approach roundabouts, we practiced these as it is essential for the trailer test candidates to be reading the road signs, to drive the roundabouts successfully, and maintain trailer test standard.
Basildon and West Thurrock have some difficult roundabouts especially the one under the M25 at junction 30/31!!
We carry out these trailer training courses and trailer licence tests all over the Essex area at locations including; Basildon, Enfield, Dagenham, Romford, Brentwood, Chelmsford, Colchester…
Well done again Steve, now easier, safer and legal for you now pulling your work boat when needed!!

Testimonials
“I can recommend Get Towing…. I had a two day trailer licence training session with them when I first bought my horse trailer. Very professional, patient and made me feel totally relaxed. Graham who coached me on a short Introduction to Towing Licence Course in Essex
“I passed my test today with 0 faults and I can wholeheartedly say that this was due to Graham’s excellent training and lovely manner. He made me feel comfortable from the start and gave me lots of confidence in my ability. I have already recommended you guys to two family members who need training, one who has failed the test twice already and one who needs to take the test.
The time I spent training was well worth it and not only helped me pass my test but has given me confidence to tow my caravan. Thanks again.”

Trailer Licence Course near me, from £399, you could arrange a course with us.
What’s s the B+E, Car and Trailer Licence Test all about?
You’ll drive for around 60 minutes. The trailer test in total can take up to 1 hr 25 mins
The B+E test is conducted at a DVSA (large goods vehicle) driving test centre with an off road manoeuvring area.
These are currently available in West Thurrock, Chelmsford and Enfield.
A VERY HIGH standard of driving is required to pass this type of test.
At the start of the test you are required to carry out an eye sight test, to read a standard number plate at a distance of 20.5 meters
You will also be asked up to 6 questions relating to the safety and loading of the trailer will then you will be instructed to drive the car and trailer onto the manoeuvring area and complete the reversing exercise as accurately and safely as possible
You will drive in varying roads and traffic conditions including motorways and dual carriageways, where possible, complete uphill, downhill and angled starts and demonstrate a high standard of driving throughout.
Back at the test centre you will then un-couple the vehicle from the trailer, you are then required to re-couple the trailer safely pretending that it is a ‘new’ trailer, the tip here is do some trailer safety checks before coupling the trailer! Or you will fail the trailer test!

We have many years of experience in getting people through their various driving tests, so you can rely on us to get you through your trailer towing test quickly and to a very high standard. We really do pride ourselves on our exceptional pass rate, currently 90%, and the fact that we do endeavour to get you through successfully within the shortest time scale possible, saving you money on the trailer licence course and also on time from work.
Our driving instructors are friendly, patient and very reliable. They are trained to the highest standard and are all fully qualified, CRB checked and registered Approved Driving Instructors. In addition, they have at least 17 years of experience in towing trailers and caravans.
We’re based in Leigh on Sea, Essex and provide trailer and caravan towing training
About the caravan and trailer towing training course
Do you need a B+E car and trailer test? If you passed a car test on or after 1 January 1997 you’re limited to:
A vehicle up to 3.5 tonnes MAM (maximum authorised mass) towing a trailer up to 750kgs
or a vehicle and trailer combination up to 3.5 tonnes MAM providing the MAM of the trailer doesn’t exceed the unladen mass of the towing vehicle
You will need to pass an additional driving test to have the category B+E on your driving license if you wish to tow a caravan or trailer combination which exceeds these weight limits.
If the conditions aren’t met exactly it can result in the driver being unlicensed and uninsured which could carry a maximum of 9 penalty points and a fine of up to £1000, and in some cases maybe even a ban.
Some trailer training providers will recommend 3, 4 or even up to 5 day courses. Whereas we are confident that we can get most candidates with very little towing experience through the B+E towing test successfully within a day and a half course, with candidates who are more experienced and confident in towing in just one day, providing their general driving ability is of a good standard. The reason we are so confident is that your training is provided by grade A DVSA approved instructors, who are up to date with all the latest DVSA regulations and requirements. Your trailer test takes place in the very relaxed setting where you have been trained. A lot of trailer training companies conduct towing training courses where they are based, but then you have to travel to the nearest DVSA test centre to take your trailer test, which can be totally unfamiliar to you.
1 Day course – £399, inc test fee
This course is designed for someone who has previous experience and who is confident with reversing a trailer and who showed a good standard of driving with only a few driving faults “bad habits” to sort out. The training course would conclude with the actual B+E trailer test at the end of the day.
2 Day course – £599, inc test fee
This course is designed for someone who has only limited experience in towing and reversing trailers and caravans, or someone who has a number of driving faults “bad habits” This course would be a full day of trailer training followed the next day by the test day which would conclude with the actual B+E trailer test.
Each course will cover all aspects of the B+E trailer test including:
The reversing exercise
The coupling and uncoupling process
All aspects of the trailer safety
All manoeuvres will be carried out at an off road driver training facility. This is the same size as the area that all trailer tests are carried out.
Clients find the experience of taking their B+E trailer test in the same place as undertaking trailer training and caravan towing courses to be less stressful and our consistently high pass rates prove this.

Trailer Licence Training Speed limits blog
When towing a trailer, as with driving at any time, it is of great importance to always keep within the legal speed limit for the road that you are using.
Speed limits for cars towing caravans or trailers:
• 30mph limit applies on all roads with street lighting unless signs show otherwise.
• 50mph applies on single carriageways unless signs show otherwise.
• 60mph applies on dual carriageways and motorways.
It should be remembered that you must NOT travel in the right-hand lane of a motorway, during normal circumstances, with three lanes or more, if you are driving a vehicle towing a trailer.
Another important thing is to make sure that you drive within your outfit’s capabilities. Too many people try to drive the exact same way as they would if they didn’t have a trailer hitched on the back of their car. Please also make sure you always drive at a speed that is well within your capabilities, and to the road and weather conditions that prevail at the time.
If your trailer begins to snake or swerve, ease off the accelerator and reduce speed gently. (This can happen if you are driving too fast or the load in the trailer is wrongly positioned). Do not brake sharply on a bend, (this could cause a possible jack-knife situation). Reduce speed before the bend and take the appropriate gear for the speed you are doing. Then gently accelerate out of the bend.
BE CAREFUL AND SAFE TOWING!
Pass you trailer towing test with all the correct methods from only £399 inc test fee!
There are many methods to learning how to pull a trailer and develop the confidence you need to do so.
At Get Towing we provide expert trailer licence training, to allow you to learn firsthand the skills needed to tow safely and efficiently.
One-on-one teaching is the best method to learn any new skill as you get the individual attention from an expert in that field. They should be able to answer almost any question you have, when you have it, and can also create a focus around the areas you personally struggle with most; this makes it personal and effective for you. As well as this you are acquiring the important experience of towing a trailer first hand which, like learning to drive, is possibly the fastest and effective way to learn how to control your trailer, whilst having guidance to correct any mistakes.
If you feel that one on one lessons are not for you, here are few other methods you could use to support you whilst learning how to tow your trailer:
TRAINING MATERIALS
For some people having a step by step guide to help you learn can be useful, especially with the aid of photos to help for visualisation. Books will allow you to learn in your own time and you are able to create notes and bookmarks at places of importance. This gives you the opportunity to personalise your own learning and easily go back to sections you may struggle with.
BLOGS
Blogs can be very useful when it comes to learning new skills as each person experiences the process differently. By reading blogs you may come across issues and relatable content that an expert driver may not have come across before or you may be too embarrassed to ask about.
VIDEOS
If you have the internet at hand, videos are a great recommendation as you can find a wide variety of both expert opinions and the opinions of others in a situation similar to your own. You also get a large amount of useful information in at once, which may be harder to find and take longer to cover in a book or blog. Videos are great because they allow you to watch demonstrations as many times as you like and they often show common mistakes and not how to do it, making it both cost and time effective. We recommend watching videos especially for how to reverse with a trailer as knowing the signs and what to look out for are important.
PRACTICE!
Like with learning to drive, practice will always be your best chance at improving your skills. Finding somewhere quiet to trial is recommended. Also being aware it is easy to make dents in the car with the trailer, when you are not yet familiar with how to reverse it, should be noted to avoid frustration and upset!
Learning how to tow and reverse a trailer does not have to be a difficult process, and by using the tools and resources available online and in the local area it can be made considerably easier and give you the confidence and the knowledge needed to get you from A to B with ease.
