Get Towing Trailer Training
We provide B+E trailer towing training courses in most locations throughout South Essex.
We provide trailer training for main trailer test centres for this area in West Thurrock, Enfield and Chelmsford.
Our trailer training is tailored to meet your needs and keeping your costs to a minimum. Choose from a single day course for experienced drivers, or multiple day course that include the test. Use your own vehicles or trailers to keep your costs down, or use our vehicles and trailers.
Your car licence was obtained before 1 January 1997
If you passed a car test before 1 January 1997 you keep your existing entitlement to tow trailers until your licence expires. This means you’re generally entitled to drive a vehicle and trailer combination up to 8.25 tonnes maximum authorised mass (MAM). You also have entitlement to drive a minibus with a trailer over 750kgs MAM.
Your car licence was obtained on or after 1 January 1997
If you passed a car test on or after 1 January 1997 you’re limited to vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes maximum authorised mass towing a trailer up to 750kgs, or a vehicle and trailer combination up to 3.5 tonnes MAM providing the MAM of the trailer doesn’t exceed the unladen mass of the towing vehicle. You will need to pass an additional driving test in B+E if you wish to tow a caravan or trailer combination which exceeds these weight limits.
Car and trailer practical test
The car and trailer test (B+E) is based on the lorry driving test and lasts for approximately one hour. The towing test (B+E) is based on a number of elements including the following:
- vehicle safety questions
- an off-road reverse manoeuvre
- Several controlled stops, uphill, downhill, on the level, on a gradient and at an angle.
- uncoupling and recoupling of the trailer off road.
Your practical driving test will include approximately ten minutes of independent driving. This is designed to assess your ability to drive safely while making decisions independently.
Is this the correct course for you
The trailer towing courses are for individuals and companies with staff who need to pass the B+E trailer towing test in order to comply with the above regulations. These trailer training courses can take place at locations near you, if you have a suitable facility, the training can be completed on your own premises. Without the proper training the B+E test will be very difficult to pass. As a qualified examiner I will prepare you not just for the test but to tow with skill, confidence and safety. The courses are either two or three day courses depending on your ability and include the test on the final day of the course.
one day trailer training course = £399
two day trailer licence course = £599
